EcoReco Featured Riders: The Pittsburgh Pirates
Fast, lightweight, and sturdy, EcoReco scooters have been putting smiles on the faces of urban commuters for nearly two years. While the small form-factor of the scooter in its collapsed state makes commuters happy, the powerful rear-wheel motor also supports a high weight capacity to virtually unmatched speeds. This opens our scooters up to a variety of other applications, including one of our favorites: transportation for professional athletes.
Pittsburgh Pirates were introduced to our product by Pitcher Mark Melancon, an MLB National League All-Star. Mark was searching for a better way to get the team to and from the field, before and after home games. This walk is normally quite long and uneventful - boring, in other words. Mark considered bicycles, but their form factor made them dangerous for the often narrow pathways the team shared with maintenance personnel.
Eventually, Mark found EcoReco’s scooters - quiet, fast, smooth, and perfect for those long narrow hallways. His team quickly becameinterested as well, leading to the Pittsburgh Pirates picking up a full fleet of scooters for the team. The team isn’t limited to using them for home games, either - some members of the team bring the scooters with them for away games to explore other cities. However, our scooters look very similar until they are customized via laser etching or decals, and with a fleet for the entire team, initially no one would be able to tell which was theirs. So, as huge baseball fans, we took the opportunity to laser-etch personalized designs onto the decks for each member of the team in true sports fashion.
In return, the team customized a deck for us!
